How to Keep Your Information Safe on Cyber Monday

News

With Cyber Monday just hours away, there are worries about the safety of personal information while shopping online.

While you’re on the hunt for the best holiday deals tomorrow hackers may be on the prowl to steal credit card information.

According to adobe analytics this year’s Cyber Monday is expected to hit a record 6.6 billion dollars in sales.

Many Christmas gifts throughout the season are also expected to be purchased mainly online instead of in stores giving more access to your credit card number.

Chief Information Security Officer for Ping Identity, Robb Reck said, “While you may think of your financial accounts as the highest risk, it’s actually your email account that allows hackers to go through and reset all your passwords on those other sites.”

Reck recommends shoppers to turn on a two-factor authentication for your email and online accounts adding an extra barrier of protection.

Google security expert Mark Risher said  there’s also security tools built into your Google search that protects from online threats.

You can even download the security check up tool before scouring for those online deals.
