KARK – Human remains found in a wooded area in Drew County Monday afternoon have been taken to the State Crime Lab for identification.
The Drew County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) says the skeletal remains were found behind a home on Highway 138, east of Monticello.
Investigators with the DCSO and the Arkansas State Police collected evidence from the scene.
Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober says at this time it is believed that the remains are those of an African American male.
Deputies say the remains were found by a person who lives in the area.
