IDOL EDGE: A First Look at Hollywood Week

(FOX) 218 talented singers from across the country received a golden ticket to American Idol’s Hollywood week. Over the next seven days they’ll be challenged to put their nerves aside and to blow away the judges.

“I like watching them shake cause I like watching what they do with that, like transforming. They are forgetting lyrics and stuff. It’s not at all the performance they’re doing right there, it’s how they get up after they fall down, cause that’s the kind of stuff that really happens to us,” Harry Connick Jr. said.

Judge Jennifer Lopez says, “It’s got to be a game everytime, but I want them to be excited they made it to Hollywood week. This is it, you should be celebrating right now and giving you best light, your best talent, putting you best foot forward.”

The judges surprised the group when they asked the stand-out performers from the audition rounds to sing solo. The other contestants lined up to perform in groups of ten. The judges are also feeling pressure to get it right.

“It gets stressful,” Lopez said.”Hollywood week is the toughest week of the whole season for me, it always has been and it’s because we have to go from such a big number to such a small number in 4 days. It’s just hard. And you don’t want to make a mistake, so we start battling and arguing, no yes and we get into it and at the end of the day we want to put the best 24 people, 12 boys and 12 girls in front of America.”
