Increasing Research Money for U of A Part of NWA Council Strategic Plan

The Northwest Arkansas Council announced its new regional strategic plan at its annual meeting Tuesday.

Putting a strong focus on attracting more tech talent to the region, devloping skills training and doubling the amount of research funding at the University of Arkansas are among the goals of the plan. The Council’s main purpose is to better enhance the quality of life and enhance the economic development in the region. Council CEO and President Nelson Peacock explained the organization’s new strategy puts an emphasis on making sure the region has the type of people who are creating change.

“As we’ve seen, technology can really disrupt a business cycle,” Peacock said. “So, we really want to stay on the cutting edge and we think some of these activities will help us get there.”

Peacock shared, moving forward, the council will work to develop and attract the most talented people in the world to our area.
