Insanity Defense Pursued for Former Assistant Principal, Trial Set for January

The attorney of Jessica Williams has given notice that they will pursue an insanity defense.

Williams, 37, is a former Waldron assistant principal who is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student.

Williams pleaded not guilty to first degree sexual assault in September. Williams was out on bond but authorities arrested her on November 13 for violating bond conditions.

Scott County Circuit Judge Jerry Ramey issued a continuance on the jury trial until the mental evaluation is completed.

A jury trial is set for January 15, 2019.
