Rogers youngsters were given new shoes on Thursday thanks to an international nonprofit that aims to put shoes on kids.
Students at Grace Hill Elementary received the shoes thanks to Samaritan’s Feet and Walmart.
Walmart shoe department employees and Samartian’s Feet representatives volunteered to deliver the shoes.
Manny Ohonme, Samaritan’s Feet founder and a native of Nigeria, wanted to observe a shoe distribution in the U.S. and Grace Hill was selected, according to Ashley Kelley Siwiec, communications director for Rogers Public Schools.
Ohonme received his first pair of shoes when he was 9 years old.
“Because he realized the impact of something as simple as having a pair of shoes, he founded Samaritan’s Feet. Thirty years later, Samaritan’s Feet is serving kids in need worldwide,” Siwiec said.
