FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) — An investigation has been launched into Fayetteville School District Superintendent Dr. Matthew Wendt.
Alan Wilbourn, spokesman for Fayetteville public schools, acknowledged that there is an ongoing investigation into Wendt.
R. Justin Eichmann, president of the Fayettevillle School Board, said he could not comment, but referred questions to Susan Keller Kendall with Kendall Law Firm.
“Allegations were reported to the Fayetteville School Board regarding Dr. Matthew Wendt,” Kendall said in a statement. “Following receipt of the complaint and pursuant to Fayetteville Public School policy, an investigation was instituted and is ongoing. The Board has retained outside counsel to advise it concerning this matter. Because the investigation is ongoing, no further information may be released at this time.”
Wendt became superintendent in July 2016, becoming the district’s eleventh superintendent since 1871, according to his biography on the school district’s website.
