J.B. Hunt announced today that it has received the SmartWay Excellence Award from the EPA for the ninth consecutive year.
The company and 39 other recipients were presented with their awards at the American Trucking Associations Management Conference & Exhibition on October 29. They were selected among the 3,700 organizations participating in the SmartWay program, which helps companies advance supply chain sustainability by measuring, benchmarking, and improving freight transportation efficiency.
“We are grateful to once again receive this recognition for operating with environmental excellence,” said Craig Harper, executive vice president and chief operations officer at J.B. Hunt. “As a leader and innovator in this industry, J.B. Hunt will continue to invest in the technology and resources that help us further reduce our carbon footprint and improve efficiency and sustainability.”
J.B. Hunt pioneered sustainable transportation through its intermodal service and has a long history of delivering products in safe, low-cost ways.
In 2017, J.B. Hunt prevented nearly 3.4 million tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere through intermodal conversion, which is equivalent to removing over 700,000 passenger vehicles off the road for a year.
