JBU professor discusses first presidential debate

News

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — John Brown University political science professor Dr. Daniel Bennett joined KNWA/KFTA to discuss the first presidential debate.

Below are some questions we asked Dr. Bennett:
Was the debate productive in the sense of educating voters on the differing stances of the candidates?
At any point, would you say President Trump appealed to any Biden voters? And in the reverse, would you say former VP Biden appealed to any of the president’s base?
Were there any topics you think needed to be addressed in the first debate that weren’t?
Supreme Court, health care, COVID-19, the economy, any one topic that stands out to you right now as key to voters this election and who came out on top on that issue tonight?
In your opinion, who won tonight’s debate?

Viewer questions:
Cliff Scogin: Do you think the debate changed potential voters for anyone?
