NWA Championship Brings Attention To Women’s Golf

ROGERS, AR — The Walmart Northwest Arkansas Championships presented by P&G is a tournament that’s bringing awareness to women’s golf in our area.

The best of the best in women’s golf will compete for top honors at one of the top tournaments on the LPGA tour.

And not just with sponsorship from several fortune 500 companies that reside in Northwest Arkansas, but with the exposure for women’s golf. LPGA Commissioner Michael Whan says the attention for the players to a worldwide audience is paramount for the growth of their sport.

“The best in the world want to be here,” Whan said. “And that means the golf course is great. That means the tournament is well-run, which it clearly is. And it’s really incredible exposure even though it’s a hometown event. Northwest Arkansas will come and watch. With 165 countries watching us on TV, for every player, it’s a chance to play in front of hometown fans, but have the whole world follow her.”

Whan says 93 of the top 100 players will compete in this weekend’s tournament.
