A single mother of two loses her house after historic flooding in the River Valley, just after spending several thousands of dollars worth of remodeling and renovations.
Although the Fort Smith flood victim feels like all the hard work, sweat, and tears just went down the drain, her family is still remaining positive.
Lakia Dale recently remodeled her home before the flood waters in Fort Smith washed it out.
“We didn’t expect it to be as bad as it was,” she said. “The water was so bad we couldn’t even get to our house it was coming through the doors.”
Walls that were freshly painted are now completely ruined.
“We painted the walls blue and my mom’s flooring was the same as mine,” Dale’s nine-year-old daughter said.
Dale and her two children turned to Evangel Temple in their time of need.
“We have been here for a couple of weeks giving people a cot to sleep on and three meals a day for those people as well,” Shelter Manager Linda Morgan said.
Even though thousands of dollars were lost, Dale said her kids are what keep her going.
“I’m just blessed to have amazing kids, and they keep me going that’s for sure,” she said.
