A former first lady spoke at the University of Arkansas Thursday, April 18.
Laura Bush, the wife of former president George W. Bush, is among the many speakers to join the Distinguished Lecture series this semester.
Bush, a longtime advocate for literacy, women’s rights and education, spoke about her life after she became the first lady.
She’s currently the chair of the Woman’s Initiative at the George W. Bush Institute.
She also continues her work on global health care innovations and empowering women in emerging democracies.
Bush joined Tarana Burke, the founder of the ‘Me Too’ movement, this semester.
Laverne Cox, an Emmy-nominated actress, also spoke as part of the series in October.
