The Arkansas Association of Chiefs of Police (AACP), Arkansas Prosecuting Attorneys Association (APAA) and the FBI National Academy Associates-AR Chapter announced the groups opposition to medical marijuana issues.
There are two medical marijuana measures on the November ballot in Arkansas: Issue 6 and Issue 7.
The groups said law enforcement and prosecutors oppose it because they are the first to see the negative side effects that marijuana legalization has on communities and youth.
The groups said after speaking with law enforcement and prosecutors from legalized states led them to determine it is not in their best interest of the citizen’s they protect.
In the release, the groups also said the proposals are “a very thinly disguised attempts to legalize marijuana under the cloak of medicine.”
