Lawsuit Filed Against ADEQ Over Stump Dump Fire

FOX24

A lawsuit has been filed against the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality, claiming the agency did nothing to stop the Trafalgar Road fire in Bella Vista.

Jim Parsons of Bella Vista filed the suit in Benton County Court Wednesday. He claims the ADEQ knew the stump dump didn’t have a permit back in 2008.

Parsons said during a press conference Wednesday that the lawsuit is an effort to hold those responsible accountable and to get money to clean up the stump dump.

“The years are just going to drag on,” Parsons said. “The fire’s not going to go out and money is not going to be gathered to do it and to spend our tax dollars — that’s just wrong.”

Parsons filed a lawsuit on Feb. 6 against Cooper Community, Blue Mountain Storage and the Bella Vista property owners association which ended up being dismissed.
