Local businesses learned the important role apprenticeships can have on their bottom line.
The Arkansas Department of Workforce Services held a forum called “employers growing talent through apprenticeships” in Springdale Thursday.
Arkansas Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin discussed how employers can grow their own talent of skilled workers through apprenticeships rather than spending countless amounts of money on recruiting and retaining workers.
“Our labor market, which we have with low unemployment rate, there is still paying points in terms of keeping that and skilled talent and keeping it over time,” said Mark McManus, project lead for business services and outreach. Registered apprenticeship offers a good tool in terms of progression.”
Organization officials said apprenticeships can also help solve a high turnover rate many companies face.
