An emergency situation is one of the last places you want to be in — without help, but the Medical ID App on your phone can help save your life.
The medical app is where you can put in personal health information, such as medications, allergies, and even religious requests. Information that would be helpful to a medical professional.
Central EMS’s Josh Kuykendall said the app has come in handy, especially when it comes to younger and older patients who may not know this information.
Kuykendall said it is also a good way to tailor care to the patient’s needs.
“Without the knowledge of those medications, we have to do more investigation and take more time to figure out how to take care of you,” he said.
The Medical ID App comes automatically downloaded on iPhones, but needs to be downloaded to Androids and other Smartphones.
