Lightning strikes caused house fires in both Prairie Grove and Alma.
Lightning struck a home in Prairie Grove early Wednesday morning, causing a fire.
The homeowner said she heard a loud boom, checked the breaker and went back to bed, according to police.
A short time later, smoke was noticeable. The woman and her dog were able to get out of the house while the fire was put out.
Lightning also struck a home near Alma, causing it to catch fire.
Lightning hit a home off Newberry Lane around 1 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Crawford County Department of Emergency Management.
The fire started in the kitchen and caused damage to the attic and stove ventilation system.
No injuries were reported.
