Washington County residents, who meet financial guidelines, are eligible to get help to pay for utilities, according to a release from the Economic Opportunity Agency (EOA).
Assistance comes through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LiHeap). Payments from LiHeap goes directly to the utility companies, on behalf of the person seeking assistance.
Households that use electricity, gas, or wood to heat their homes may apply for assistance, until funds are depleted.
Families who recieve food stamps, have an elderly or disabled person in their household, and those who have ‘disconnect’ notices, need to apply before assistance may be given.
Guidelines are listed on the website: www.eoawc.org.
