Little Rock to Compete for Second Amazon Headquarters

Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola announced Monday the city will compete to land Amazon’s second headquarters.

The mayor said he has a team that will meet next week to start working on the proposal.

He said he wants your help to land the major headquarters in the Capitol City by thinking of ideas of how the city can be creative to land the project.

We learned Amazon’s second headquarters could bring in 50,000 jobs to the city. Amazon’s “request for proposal” (application) reads the project will invest $5 billion.

The $5 billion does not include all the new homes and transportation that would need to be expanded.

Mayor Stodola acknowledge in a statement to us Monday it will be a “challenge,” but he is putting together a team to meet next week to “Think Big and Be Creative” to compete.

Ellen Hoppe lives in Little Rock and uses Amazon all the time.

She said, “The first thing I think is job creation. That sounds amazing. I know that Amazon is a huge employer in Washington. That just sounds great.”

The mayor said Little Rock and the metro region would be a great fit for Amazon.

He said the team will meet next weekend and will have more details about their plan then.
