Little Rock Wins Property Spot on New Monopoly Game Board

LITTLE ROCK, AR – Arkansas’s capital city has won a spot on the Monopoly Here & Now: U.S. Edition game board which is being unveiled today on World Monopoly Day.

Little Rock is one of 22 U.S. cities to be selected for the coveted property spaces.

Little Rock was chosen because it received enough votes in a contest that asked Monopoly fans around the world to vote for their favorite U.S. cities. The voting took place between Feb. 13 and March 4.

Iconic landmarks serve as tokens in the game, which allows players to visit as many cities as possible in the race around the board, collecting passport stamps as they go. Players fund their adventures with cash collected from visitor fees when other players land on their locations. The first player to fill their passport to the top wins.

The game launches this Fall and is expected to sell for $19.99.

This year is Monopoly’s 80th anniversary. Parker Brothers released the game in 1935.
