The further the Razorback baseball team goes in the postseason, the better profit made by local businesses that sell branded merchandise tailored to College World Series apparel. As a result, managers of stores like Hogman’s Gameday said they hope the Hogs keep winning.
“The closer you get to the world series, the closer they get to the SEC championship, anything like that, there’s always an uptick, of course, yeah,” said Donna Luckett, Hogman’s Gameday manager.
In several stores, certain items specific to baseball’s postseason sold out soon after they were stocked. Fans’ rush to purchase those products started immediately after the Razorbacks topped Ole Miss to advance to Omaha.
“It started Tuesday morning, but we couldn’t get the merchandise here that fast because it’s gotta go to the printers, then to the distributors, then to warehouse and then to store,” Luckett said. “It’s kind of a process.”
If the Razorbacks topple Texas Tech on Monday and go on to win the championship series, Luckett said she expects her store and others to stock up on that gear.
