A local group is delivering food to seniors who aren’t able to find a meal for themselves.

Since 2010, the Chase Family Foundation has given 65 thousand pounds of food to homebound seniors around the holidays.

Sunday in Springdale, volunteers packed a trailer full of Christmas colored bags of food to deliver to nearby senior centers who will then distribute it to those in need in our area.

Chase Family Foundation member John Baker said they donate 18 thousand pounds of food including meals for pets as well.

“For us its very important because we are one of the few cultures that when all said and done don’t really take care of their senior citizens. Some of the senior centers for several weeks now have already had seniors contacting them wondering if we were going to be doing this again this year,” said John Baker from the Chase Family Foundation.

Baker also said 1 and 3 seniors in Benton County won’t have a meal tonight, and that’s why the organization does everything it can to eliminate that number.
