Local Hockey Tournament Honors Sherwood Man

A memorial hockey tournament was held on Sunday, February 17, for a Sherwood man who died four years ago.

Frank Steinsiek was shot and killed while trying to sell a motorcycle to a potential buyer he met on Craigslist.

On Sunday, a team played in Steinsiek’s honor at the Arkansas Stadium.

His jersey was retired and his grandson did the ceremonial first puck drop to get the game underway.

Frank’s wife, Paula, said her husband played hockey for over 20 years and today’s memorial was an honor.

Donations from the tournament went towards the ‘Frank Steinsiek Scholarship Memorial Fund’.
