Local nonprofit asks community for help with cultivating creativity in kids

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) — A local nonprofit is working to help children in our community.

Trike Theatre is the only professional theater for kids in northwest Arkansas. It works to cultivate creativity, build character, strengthen communities and give kids a creative outlet through the performing arts.

The nonprofit is hosting the Build Character Scholarship Campaign, which aims to help children who can’t afford the tuition.

“We have a lot of great investment in this community, but there are still those pockets where we have underserved children,” said Head of Academy, Chris Tennison. “We have students on school lunch programs. These are students who are in need.”

Staff says participation will teach skills that will be useful to kids as they get older, like confidence and how to work with others.

“These are skills that are important in today’s workforce and so that’s the importance and the power of theater,” said Director of Development, Bill Rogers. “And we want to provide that for every child.”
