Local organization wants to teach kids basic hiking survival skills

News

Hiking is a fun time for many, but there are several things that can go wrong on the trails if a hiker doesn’t have the proper training.

On Tuesday, (June 18) Ozark Adventure & Recreation will host a Kids Outdoor Survival Basics workshop for children ages six and up.

Students will learn things like how to build shelters, find water, and identify dangerous plants and animals.

Organization founder, Cory Burbidge said he wants kids to walk away with the confidence to navigate the outdoors.

“I hope they get excited about getting outdoors and doing stuff on their own,” Burbidge said. “I hope these skills help them learn to help themselves or anyone else who may need it in the future.

The workshop will run from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Lake Fayetteville and tickets are $10. Click here to get yours.
