Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the top causes of death in America and the moments during the episode are vital to saving a person’s life.
A local sheriff’s office wanted to make sure they were prepared to assist in the event of an emergency.
A representative visited the Benton County Sheriff’s Office on March 5, to demonstrate how to use automated external defibrillators (AED) on a patient who is going through cardiac arrest.
“A lot of sheriffs these days, especially those that are a lot more proactive, they are trying to expand that role in better grasping what it means to better protect and serve,” Territory Manager, Rob Williams, said.
The department had six AED’s installed in their patrol division.
