London Artist Gives Large Rogers Building a Vibrant New Face

A building in Downtown Rogers got a makeover this week.

London-based artist Rich Simmons painted a mural on the side of the old Ice House building.

The more than 50-foot tall mural shows a woman wearing sunglasses with the images of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa on each lens.

This project is a partnership between the City of Rogers, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and the Walton Family Foundation, which granted the city $30,000 to fund the mural.

“I have a couple paintings in Crystal Bridges Museum at the moment – the Superman and Wonder Woman show, ‘Men of Steel, Women of Wonder’ – so I wanted to come out and see the show and see my first paintings at the museum, and they invited me over, and I said if I’m going to be in Arkansas I might as well come and do a mural. So people started throwing walls at me, and they offered the biggest one in Arkansas, so I said “yes,” Simmons said..

Simmons said this is the biggest mural he has painted so far, and spent around 80 hours painting it.
