FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Fox 24) — A powerful storm, with downpours and heavy winds, causing outages in several sections of Fayetteville.
“I ain’t never seen nothing like this before,” said Lafayette Barker, who lives in Fayetteville.
Fire fighters were busy Tuesday afternoon, after a massive storm tore through Northwest Arkansas.
You can see the damage from the storm that ripped through Fayetteville. Trees are down everywhere and active power lines are still sparking in the wet streets.
Sections of the city also without street lights, and several thousand without power.
“Nobody up here got power and down that way, we ain’t got no power either,” Barker said.
Barker says he saw fire erupt near Willow Heights after a tree fell on power lines.
“I saw that electricity go like that and then it just went, boom, and a big old ball of fire came out. I mean, it’s the first time I’ve seen anything like that,” Barker said.
Emergency officials, warning people to stay away from downed power lines until they can be repaired.
