The city of Decatur in Benton County experienced a major water main break which impacted many residents in the city.
Crews were dispatched as soon as they received word about the incident on Timberline Street around 10:45 p.m. Saturday, January, 26.
The break last night involved the six-inch City Main that has not been a regular issue in the past, according to Mayor Bob Tharp.
This project was huge due to the fact that when this housing area was built, service-lines crossing the street would often break.
Tharp said on his Facebook page, “I am working with the City team to develop a communication system for reporting such emergencies timely in the future.”
During the past two years, the water service lines to customers have been replaced, and the street has new asphalt.
The improvements have been completed, and all of those service-lines have been replaced with new plumbing, according to Tharp.
