RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (KARK) – A local man who faced trial twice as a suspect in the murder of local beauty queen Nona Dirksmeyer has been arrested on new charges.

On December 4, 2018 at 7:38 pm, Russellville Police responded to the parking lot of First Baptist Church, 200 South Denver, in regards to a possible kidnapping attempt. When officers arrived, the suspect had already left the scene, but the victim and witness a provided a description of both the suspect and his vehicle, which was broadcasted to surrounding agencies. The victim, a 40 year old female, provided a statement that the suspect approached her in the parking lot and attempted to force her into her vehicle. The victim said that she was able to break free, and the suspect left the area by vehicle.
Russellville Police were notified of a prior incident that occurred on the campus of Arkansas Tech University at about 7:19 pm where a female was approached by a suspect and asked her to step out of her vehicle. The female called 911, and the suspect left. The suspect and his vehicle description was similar to what was provided in the other incident.
At approximately 9:38pm, Dardanelle Police stopped a vehicle which matched the description of the suspect vehicle. The suspect was identified as Gary Dunn, age 39. As result of the investigation into these incidents, Russellville Police arrested Gary Dunn, age 39, for Kidnapping and transported him to Pope County Detention Center to await bond hearing.
