Man Arrested After Breaking Into Apartment, Sexually Assaulting Woman, Police Say

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KFTA) — Two officers are injured and a man is in custody after officers say he broke into a woman’s apartment and sexually assaulted her. 

The incident happened at Hill Place Apartments in Fayetteville. 

According to Fayetteville Police, the suspect forced his way into a woman’s apartment, pinned her down and groped her several times. 

After several attempts, the victim broke free to call the police. 

When officers arrived, Stephen Ramsay resisted arrest causing one officer to receive an injury to the face and the other officer to receive an injury to the knee. 

Ramsay was arrested for residential burglary, sexual assault, battery, resisting arrest and public sexual indecency. 

Ramsay is being held at the Washington County Jail with a $7,500 bond. 

Both officers are cleared to work.
