Man Arrested for Threatening Drivers with Toy Handgun, Police Say

Fort Smith police arrested a man on Thursday morning after dispatch received several calls about a man they say was threatening drivers with a handgun.

When officers arrived at the scene, they said they were able to arrest John Beasley, 48, and secure the toy replica pistol he was waving.

Officers were able to avoid Darby Jr High from shutting down and Beasley from walking into the heavily trafficked convenience store near the intersection, according to the Facebook post from the Fort Smith police.
