Man Faces Murder Charge after Allegedly Pouring Gasoline, Burning Victim

ASHLEY COUNTY, Ark. (KARK) – A man is in custody after allegedly pouring gasoline on another man and setting him on fire, county authorities say. 

On Dec. 31, Ashley County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called around 11 p.m. regarding the incident. 

A witness told deputies that Anthony Dewayne Brown, 49, had poured gasoline on a man identified as Jesse Burton, 47. Deputies say Brown left the trailer after he set Burton on fire.

Burton died at the Chicot Memorial Hospital around 1 a.m. from a massive burn inhalation injury, authorities confirm. 

Brown was arrested around 4 a.m. and faces a first-degree murder charge. He is being held on a $250,000 bond.
