SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KFTA) — Springdale police have identified the man who was fatally shot by a police officer last Thursday, as well as the officer who shot him.

The man who was shot Thursday and died Friday at Washington Regional Medical Center was identified as Iman Joseph Buford, 30. The officer who shot Buford was identified as officer Trevor Bowen, who has worked for the Police Department for 3 and a half years, according to Lt. Jeff Taylor.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a home on Sonora Acres Road in Springdale at around 11:15 p.m. Thursday. The Sheriff’s Office called Springdale police for assistance.
When law enforcement arrived on scene, deputies said they were approached by a man with a gun.
The man refused to put down the gun, and that’s when he was shot, according to deputies.
Further details about what transpired immediately before and during the shooting will not be officially known or released until Arkansas State Police completes its investigation into the shooting, Taylor said.
Bowen is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into the shooting.
Buford had no prior arrests.
