Mobile Payments to Increase in 2017

News

A new study by Visa predicts retailers will see an increase in mobile payments in 2017.

18% of those surveyed said they made a mobile payment last year. 26% said they plan to try making mobile payments this year. According to the study, almost 18 percent of consumers used mobile app payments for parking and food in 2016. That number is expected to jump up to 26% in 2017.

Apps allowing phone and tablet users to make mobile payments in advance are becoming more popular. Last year stores became responsible for fraud if they didn’t have systems that allowed users to use the new chip technology. That requirement does not make retailers accept mobile payments, so some users say the service is still uncommon.
