FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) – For the second day in a row, Mountainburg schools were closed due to school-wide sickness.
Mountainburg superintendent, Dennis Copeland said around 20 percent of their student body is sick, experiencing illnesses like the flu, the stomach bug and strep throat.
The percentage accounts for around 110 students. Copeland also said eight cooks and 15 teachers are sick.
Custodians spent Monday and Tuesday disinfecting the school.
Copeland said this is the first time school has been closed due to sickness.
