Naked Man Arrested in Van Buren After Breaking Into Cars and Businesses

Officers in Van Buren arrested a naked man for breaking and entering along with multiple other charges on Saturday night.

Robert Woods, 41, of Mulberry, broke into three businesses and two vehicles while in the downtown Van Buren area.

At approximately 9 p.m. on April 20, officers responded for a naked man being chased through the streets by another man. Officers arrived on scene and the victim told them that he had just caught a fully naked man going through the inside of his vehicle at 5th and Jefferson.

As officers were canvassing the area, they found an open door to a business on Main Street. They followed a fresh blood trail into the building, but the suspect was not inside.

A short time later, they found the suspect’s clothing inside the victim’s vehicle. He left his wallet in his pants along with his Missouri Driver’s License. They were eventually able to find the vehicle in the downtown area.

Officers continued to search the area for Woods when dispatch received a report of a man moaning in the area of 6th and Webster.

They were able to locate Woods trapped inside of an attic crawlspace at 512 Webster.

Due to the distance from the attic to the ground being an approximate 15-foot drop, the Van Buren Fire Department was called to assist in getting Woods out of the crawlspace.

Woods was arrested for commercial burglary, criminal mischief, breaking and entering, felony theft of property, indecent exposure and public intoxication on drugs.
