National Guard to Monitor Stump Dump Fire Area Air Quality

The National Guard will monitor the air quality at the Trafalgar Road fire starting Tuesday morning.

The National Guard has received new state of the art equipment to monitor the air quality near the stump dump fire, according to staff Sgt. Melody Daniel with Arkansas National Guard Public Affairs.

The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality requested that the National Guard take samples.

“It’s not actually as invasive as it seems,” Daniel said. “We do have the command center, and that’s a good thing because the data that’s being collected from these new monitoring machines gets collected everyday in that command center and gets sent digitally back to Little Rock.”

Daniel said the National Guard will be in Bella Vista for a three-day period to test the air quality, and will head back to Little Rock until further instructions from the ADEQ.
