In Fort Smith, new information about the deadly fire that killed one person Wednesday night.

The Fort Smith Fire Department said it suspects homeless people were trying to stay warm in the trailer.

He said it took crews 20 minutes to extinguish the flames.

Cyr also said, “The property owners, they advise that that’s what happened and has happened in the past, that they’ve had to get the people to leave because they’re on their property and afraid that something like this would happen.”

Police have now identified 36-year-old Jacob Demery as the vicitim.
