Night to Shine Back for Another Year

People in the northwest Arkansas community have the opportunity to celebrate Valentine’s Day in a big way.

Nationwide, Night to Shine is a prom-like event for people with special needs. Attendees will enjoy food, music and even a red carpet complete with paparazzi.

Every attendee will have a buddy, or a volunteer trained to care for them properly, making this a fun event for guests and their loved ones.

“Families don’t get time away from their kids very often because they require such high maintenance and a lot of medical issues and that kind of stuff,” said Tammy Kuykendall, who brought Night to Shine to northwest Arkansas four years ago.

This is the fourth year Cross Church in Springdale has hosted the event that aims to be more inclusive for different parts of the community.

“The church needs to wrap around our people with special needs and their families and show them that we love them,” Kuykendall said.

Night to Shine takes place Friday, February 8, 6:00-8:30 p.m. at Cross Church in Springdale. To register for participation or to volunteer, click here.
