North Little Rock police are investigating a homicide after a teen was found shot and lying in the middle of the street.

The teen has been identified as 19-year-old Wesley M. Everett.

According to North Little Rock police, around 4:15 a.m. Saturday officers were called to the 2900 block of Old Pike for reports of a person lying in the roadway. Officers found Everett suffering from a gunshot wound. The teen was taken to a local hospital, but passed away a short time later.

So far no arrests have been made and police have not released suspect information.

The violence is leaving some in the community calling for change.

“There’s another way to solve your problems other than guns,” said Bill Walker, who owns a restaurant up the street from the crime scene. “It’s not just any single person’s problem, it’s a community problem, it’s a city problem, it’s a neighborhood problem. It’s everybody’s problem and we can’t turn our heads to this because it continues to affect us all.”

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the North Little Rock Police Department.
