Northwest Arkansas is home to many nonprofits, including some people might not even know about.

The Museum of Native American History, located in Bentonville, opened about 12 years ago and allows people to experience centuries worth of Native American history.

David Bogle, a registered member of the Cherokee Nation who was born and raised in Bentonville, founded the nonprofit. To stay true to Bogle’s vision, grants are not accepted to fund the museum, said Charlotte Buchanan-Yale, instead they count on the community to keep it viable.

“The more people who come through, the more daily donations we have.  The seed is planted where they want to know more and we hope that reverberates in the community,” Buchanan-Yale said.

Along with consistent visitors, Buchanan-Yale said they are also looking for people willing to collaborate for future programs. To get in contact with museum staff, click here.
