Northwest Arkansas Health Educates Community On Heart Disease

February is American Heart Month, and Northwest Health in Bentonville and Springdale teamed up in educating the community on how to reduce the risks for heart disease.

On February, 23 both medical centers held free heart checks health fairs.

In addition to the free screenings, the Northwest Health Centers also offered risk assessments and seminars.

People who attended were able to tour the two hospitals’ cardiac catheterization labs.

“It’s important to prevent it, it’s important to know the risk factors so we can know the damage even if you have it, and to take care of your loved ones if they have heart disease,” Northwest Health Cardiologist, Dr. Ashu Dhanjal, said.

In the U.S., heart disease continues to be the leading cause of death for both men and women.
