You may have noticed the news team at Fox 24 was all dressed in red on Friday, this is part of the American Heart Association’s ‘Go Red for Women’ movement.
Across America, people were also sporting their red and kicking off the ‘Go Red’ movement.
In Bentonville, members of the Circle of Red and Men Go Red groups joined together for a national “Wear red day party” in Northwest Arkansas.
People at the event said they look forward to the start of the campaign and are proud to donate to such a great cause that affects so many women in the area.
Members of the AHA said the movement is no longer just about wearing red or sharing heart health facts.
It’s now about all women making a commitment to stand together and take charge of their own heart health, as well as for those they can’t bear to live without.
“We encourage woman at this time to pay special attention, take care of themselves. When mom goes down, or sis or grandma sometimes you know that leaves everybody without that extra special support,” said Cyd King from the Northwest Arkansas American Heart Association.
Throughout the month of February, the American Heart Association will host many events where you can volunteer, donate, or even get your own health screening.
