NWA Council Looks to Grow Region’s Healthcare Economy

News

The Northwest Arkansas Council’s goal is for NWA region to become a healthcare destination.

The council met Thursday in Bentonville to discuss healthcare systems, nonprofit organizations, the region’s largest employers and biotech companies.

It’s all part of assessing Northwest Arkansas’ healthcare economy.

“Part of our strategic plan is to be what we call a healthcare destination and that the place where people come to get healthcare services,” said Nelson Peacock, president and CEO of Northwest Arkansas Council. “So if that economic activity can take place in Northwest Arkansas, its going to be that much better to have availability and quality and specialized care here in the region.”

Peacock said this involves all of the healthcare coming together to identify the areas where they can develop a  certain expertise.
