The Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission approved an amendment on Wednesday regarding the future of transportation in the region.
The RPC/Policy Committee made the decision at its meeting in Springdale to incorporate the ARDOT and MODOT established performance targets for safety, pavement condition, bridge condition, and travel time reliability — which was previously adopted by the committee in September. The Transit Asset Management Plan performance targets were also adopted by the Committee.
“Today, we’re implementing some of the new federal transportation planning requirements that all states across the nation are having to set performance measures and targets,” NWA Regional Planning Commission Transportation Programs Manager Tim Conklin explained.
The adoption of the amendment is a show of support for what is referred to as the 2040 plan, which addresses the future of transportation needs across the country.
