Athletes are training in preparation for the 2019 Special Olympics Summer Games.
The event hosts the following six sports: track and field, powerlifting, swimming, flag football, softball and bocce.
Susie Boggs has been playing bocce ball for close to 50 years and looks forward to competing for the second year in a row.
And when asked how she was going to play, “Win! I’m going to win,” Boggs exclaimed.
“This is a very excited crowd, they’ve been talking about it all week,” said Amy Leitermanm, site supervisor for Life Styles, Inc. “I don’t even have words for how exciting this is. This is my first experience with Special Olympics, and so far it has just been above and beyond what I could have imagined.”
The Special Olympics Arkansas Summer Games begin Friday in Searcy.
