ROGERS, Ark. (KFTA) — The Association of Arkansas Counties is celebrating its 50th anniversary by holding its annual conference in Rogers.
Nearly 750 officials from across the state are in Rogers, including Congressman Steve Womack.
Several issues in the state will be discussed at the conference, especially emergency response .
“The 911 systems across the state are very poorly funded. The county government is really stretched thin on what it can do to fund those operations, so we’re gonna be going to the legislature to talk with them about additional funding on that and additional fixes that we need,” said Chris Villines, executive director of the association.
The conference will last until Friday.
Several state lawmakers are also in attendance to make sure county leaders can direct their questions and problems to the right people.
