Oklahoma Red Cross Aids Victims of Severe Storms

The Oklahoma red cross was set up in the center of town in Cookson.

Volunteer Susie Simson said she received the call to begin setting up around 5 AM Saturday morning.

As soon as the sun came up the station was set up for people affected by the storm- offering water, snacks, and tarps for roofs.

However Simpson said right now she’s only seeing a portion of the community.

“There are still many many many people who can’t get out of their homes. They are waiting for people to get there to get out and get assistance,” said Red Cross Disaster Assessment Team Volunteer, Susie Simpson.

Simspon adds she plans to be available all weekend to the people of Cookson and Tenkiller who have been affected.
