Online sales tax takes effect in Arkansas

A new online sales tax began in Arkansas on Monday providing hope for struggling cities.

In April, Governor Hutchinson signed the law that will require large, out-of-state online retailers, like Amazon, to collect sales and use taxes from in-state buyers.

According to the Department of Finance and Administration, this new tax could generate an additional $35 million for the state and an additional $11 million for cities and counties.
